DC Advisory advised Borealis / OTPP / SSE on the acquisition of a portfolio of UK-based smart meters

Borealis Infrastructure, the infrastructure investment manager of OMERS (Borealis), Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (Ontario Teachers) and SSE plc (SSE) have together (the Consortium) launched MapleCo, an independent meter asset provider (MAP) supporting the UK energy market, and SGN Smart, a subsidiary of SGN Ltd (SGN).

DC Advisory (DC) was mandated in August 2015 to provide greenfield financial advisory services including structuring, commercial and debt advice and project management to the Consortium.

DC’s work throughout the transaction included extensive financial modelling, business plan development, key contracts negotiation, due diligence, debt advice and process management.

DC Advisory assisted in delivering an innovative suite of project finance commercial documents, which allowed MapleCo to secure the 2.7m smart meters from SSEESL.

DC delivered a highly attractive and innovative debt package, which was a fundamental element of the success of the overall transaction.
