DC Advisory advised Sharp on the acquisition of a 66% stake in NEC Display Solutions from NEC Corporation

Japanese multinational, Sharp Corporation (Sharp), has agreed to acquire a 66% stake in NEC Display Solutions (NDS), a subsidiary of NEC Corporation (NEC), one of the global leaders in IT, network and biometric technologies and listed on Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Based in Japan, NDS is engaged with NEC’s B2B display business globally and produces LCD monitors, business projectors, digital cinema projectors and more.

DC Advisory Japan acted as exclusive financial advisor to Sharp on its acquisition of a 66% stake in NDS, who will, in turn, form a joint venture partnership with NEC.

Sharp’s majority ownership of NDS, combined with the JV with NEC, will present them with significant growth opportunities and reinforcement of its B2B business, including scale merit, cross-selling of products, and business expansion in new categories, such as LED display and 8K+5G ecosystems.
